Councils and Committees

Many people wonder how one becomes a member of one of “those” Church committees. They are wondering how they can become more active in parish life and are not sure how to start. Many people are under the impression that you have to be asked by the Pastor to be a committee member or invited by someone in the group. Would you really be able to just show up one night and be accepted? The answer to that is yes and no.

The councils are different than committees. The Pastoral & Finance council are appointed by the Pastor. These 2 groups Parish Pastoral Council and Parish Finance Council, are advisory boards to the Pastor.  Council members are asked to serve a 2 year term.

Committees are a bit different. Some committees have been commissioned by the Pastoral and Finance councils and the Pastor to fulfill a specific need in the Parish. (Personnel Committee)  Some, like social committees, will hopefully have many sub committees to handle specific events. (Picnic and Spring Fest Committees)  These committees are always looking for new members.  Please consider joining a committee and use your talents to help serve the Lord.
